Monday is the day when the champs are escorted one at a time into Akron with a police escort and then allowed to throw their items from home to the crowd. Before you get to do that though you get to wait in line after line after line. Here is Jacob Whiting trading buttons with Kat Cole from Indianapolis IN. Is that Clark Kent in the background?

A big thank you to M&M Mars for giving us a lot of TWIX to hand out and trade. Here Morgan AKA the Derby Princess gets ready to find someone with a sweet tooth.

Here is Morgan with our friends we met in 2010 from New Zealand. Morgan traded the TWIX for a Kiwi bird. Look closely and you can see a Kiwi on the head of the New Zealander.

Time to sit and wait. Here Morgan makes friends with Lynne Dougherty from Glens Falls, NY

Finally it is our turn and after a police escort what else do VIP's get? An escort from a pretty young lady from the car to the stage down the red carpet. First time I have seen Jacob smile this big.

Here is Morgan signing the Champions Board. Many famous people have signed this board. While waiting in line the dad in front of us told us he raced Donald Trump in Akron. Wonder if the race messed up his hair?

Here is Jacob throwing out t-shirts from Athens Federal. Since we had shirts the crowd went wild. We also handed out hand sanitizers from Athens Regional Medical Center.

VIP Status

Our cars made it to Akron with no deficiencies and were declared VIP cars. An advantage of being a VIP car is that you get to put your top on Monday instead of Tuesday. Both Morgan and Jacob are VIP's. Hey that local race director must know what he is doing. Here Jacob and his dad Glen put their top back on.
