Super Kids Take to the Hill

Hamilton Hacker Races for Athens!

Today was set aside for Super Kids in Akron. Hamilton Hacker represented the City of Athens and the state of Tennessee. Hamilton raced fast but was eliminated in his first two heats. Hamilton said he had a lot of fun though.

Here Hamilton and his Dad Alf have their picture taken below the bridge across the track. FYI their is also a tunnel under the track for spectators to go from side to side. Maybe we should look into that tunnel idea for Keith Lane.

Let's go racing! I have to ask Hamilton is the smile for the racing or for the pretty driver?

Here goes Hamilton in perfect form. Unfortunately this was his second heat and he lost by a half a car length. Wow this was close.

Here is Austin, Hamilton and Alf at the top of the world!

Here is Hamilton with his medal that he was given as a participant.

Finally we could not pass up the chance to have our picture made with Mr. Derby Jeff Iula. Jeff has written a book called "How I Saw It, My Photographic Memory of the Soap Box Derby". We are giving away a copy on WYXI when we get home on July 25. If you like the derby at all this is a must have book. Visit www.uakron.edu/uapress to order a copy.

Let's go win a world title Morgan and Jacob!
