Box Derby
Thursday July 24, 2010
Akron, Ohio
On Thursday the champs were given the day off after four hard days at the All-American. The families enjoyed touring the world famous Harry London Chocolate Factory. After smelling all the chocolate everyone agreed that Willy Wonka has nothing on Harry London.
There are no cameras allowed inside however we were able to see where the CEO of the company that owns Harry London filmed his segment of Undercover Boss. The employees were still laughing about him not being able to make a box and fill it with chocolate. Sort of like on the Lucy show when she worked in the chocolate factory.
Below is a photo of Cass and Autumn in front of the factory. Hamilton Hacker and his family were with us too however they were at the Pro Football Hall of Fame when this photo was taken. Hamilton now has a great looking Steelers hat!

Inside these walls we got to see and smell 400,000 gallons of chocolate in one room. Roll your mouse over the picture really fast and you should be able to smell the chocolate. Just kidding and can't believe you fell for that two years in a row.
Here is a picture of Tony Vincent just moments from racing in the Adult race. Tony won a raffle to get in the race but alas he did not win the race. Could it be that a retired member of the Cleveland Browns was in lane 3 and outweighed Tony a good 100 pounds? I believe that could be the problem. It is actually true and can be used as a good excuse as well Tony.
I ask you Tony Vincent or Tony Stewart......you decide.

Here are some photos of the ultimate speed racers. Ultimate speed racers as you can tell have a few less guidelines that Stock and Super Stock. On Saturday they will get one run in each lane and the car with the lowest time down in all three lanes is the champ. Funny most of the entrants seem to be female. I wonder if they are allowed to put on makeup as they drive.

Yes the wheels are on this car

We all thought this looked like a coffin

The rear says Folsom County Prison. We say Hello I'm Johnny Cash.

The star wars entry

917 looks like the X 15

Has to be a girl car with the fuchsia

If I am not mistaken this is the defending champ. This comes from the Zero Error Racing company that makes tools to make go carts and soap box derby cars and other things go fast.
On Friday Hamilton Hacker takes to the hill in the Super Kids Division. He will race after 10 am. Listen to WYXI for Hamilton's results as they happen!
